New York Cruises - Cruise to Copenhagen and Explore the Carlsberg Brewery
The brewery was established in the Danish capital in 1847 by J C Jacobsen. Brewery tours are always popular among holidaymakers heading to beer-producing cities - and the Carlsberg Brewery in Copenhagen is no exception.
You should make sure you take the time to tour the Carlsberg Brewery, if you're heading to Copenhagen as part of a mini cruise around Europe. Some products are still made on the original brewery site, while much of the company's beer production takes place elsewhere in Denmark.
But it also contains various other fascinating exhibits and artefacts, not only does it offer interesting glimpses into the past with its displays of old brewing equipment and explanations of the beer-making process.
Including some particularly rare bottles produced by Carlsberg and other beer companies, you'll be able to see the biggest collection of beer bottles in the world right here at the brewery, for example.
The son of the brewery's founder, the sculpture garden contains an array of artworks collected by Carl Jacobsen, elsewhere. 000 mark, 384 bottles in total in 2007 - and this figure is currently approaching the 20, the Guinness Book of World Records recorded 16.
Carl Jacobsen had the original made after becoming infatuated with a dancer who starred in the ballet production of The Little Mermaid and donated it to the city in 1913. Among these is a smaller version of the Little Mermaid statue that can be seen elsewhere in Copenhagen.
It was this type of horse that was originally used by the brewery to deliver its products back when it first started operating. Where Carlsberg keeps its Jutland dray horses, other highlights include the stables.
Where visitors can taste their favourite Carlsberg beer - an experience that is sure to be all the more delightful after finding out all about how it is made and its origins - and buy souvenirs to keep or give to friends, the tour ends in the Jacobsen Brewhouse's bar.
Bars and restaurants, you can explore the rest of what Copenhagen has to offer - and sample some more Carlsberg products while exploring the city's many pubs, from here!
